Headphone Connectors: Types

Headphones are a useful subject in most situations. For example, with their help, you can listen to your favorite music so that it is not heard by others. Like a USB keyboard, computer mouse, speakers, they can connect to a computer, phone and other modern devices. In this article, you will learn about what types of headphone jacks exist today.

Loudspeakers

Headphones can be connected to various devices through line outputs and RCA. A linear output is a small connector on a sound card that can be found on any modern gadget: laptop, phone, TV. These connectors are designed to connect mini-jack plugs (3.5 mm).

RCA is a standard plug that is widely used in audio and video equipment. RCA is often called a tulip or bell. This plug has a diameter of 3.2 mm; it looks like a central metal contact pin extending forward.

USB headphone jacks

Headphones connected to a USB port are separate. Such a port today can be found on almost any device. They are equipped with all computers and laptops, since the same mouse, printer or keyboard transfers information through it.

The advantages of using options with a USB cable is that the sound in such models is much cleaner and better due to the built-in amplifier. Also, when using, there is no need for a sound card, since they have their own chip with the same functions.

But there is a drawback: they consume too much energy, which leads to an early discharge of the battery of the connected device.

Wireless headphone jacks

Wireless products do not have wires, but they are also wireless. But how are such models connected? They are connected using specially designed transmitters that come with the device.

Modern options that use Bluetooth to connect to the device are universal. They connect to all modern devices that have a Bluetooth function. The connector is the same transmitter.

Connecting wireless models and a TV is no more difficult. You must insert the transmitter into the line input on the TV, then activate the headphones.

As you can see, modern technology does not stand still. Who knows, maybe in the future we will be able to connect one device to another with our own thoughts.
