Laying a parquet board on a concrete floor

Parquet has always been considered riding chic. No wonder in all the noble houses, there was parquet on the floor. Merchants and nobles, and even the Emperor himself paid tribute to the parquet floor. But before you admire him, you need to correctly lay it down. There are a number of rules that need to be considered, otherwise the expensive coating will turn into an inconspicuous and unpleasant sight.

And besides, the installation will be somewhat correct, the material will last so long. Like it or not, but wood is very afraid of dampness and other things unpleasant for it.

REFERENCE! Whatever parquet you choose, whatever the installation method, you must adhere to the technology.

Is it possible to lay a parquet board on a concrete floor

Among the many options for laying parquet floors - laying on a concrete screed is one of the most popular methods. Before starting the installation process itself, the following requirements must be observed:

  1. The deviation of the floor from the horizontal should not be more than two millimeters for every two meters;
  2. The moisture content of concrete should not be more than five percent;
  3. The strength of the concrete screed should be 150 kilograms per square centimeter.

The technology of such styling

The most important thing in the whole technology of laying parquet is a high-quality concrete base. This requires special patience, this procedure takes a lot of time and effort. It turns out that laying parquet boards is easier than preparing the base. But alignment is very important. After all, parquet is not some kind of linoleum or laminate that calmly rests on almost any basis.
Why is the question of evenness and rigidity of the foundation so urgent? A parquet board behaves differently than an ordinary plank. If the board is rigid and has a large size, but on the surface with irregularities, it begins to “play”. As a result, the processes of shear and kink work at the joints, which will certainly lead to the fact that the castle will collapse and there will be delamination from the glued base.
For parquet to serve more than one decade, the following conditions must be met:

  • We remove dirt and dust from the surface. We use a brush or vacuum cleaner, sometimes we have to work with a rag. Using the level we determine the depressions and heights;
  • Using emery and an electric grinder, we align the bulges, paint the places with recesses with a primer. The primer is applied in four layers and let each layer dry. Next, measure and align with the common floor;
  • We clean the floor thoroughly and carefully measure it.

If the errors at the floor level are within the normal range, you can begin to lay the parquet floor. If, despite all efforts, it was not possible to level the floor, then you should use a self-leveling self-leveling floor.
If the basis of the floor was brought to the desired quality, then you can put the parquet with glue directly on concrete. This will speed up the procedure, and the installation itself will be better than using a wooden substrate.

IMPORTANT! There are two different types of glue for the parquet sticker. In the first, acrylic resin as the basis, and the second adhesive based on polyurethane from two components.

Both options have a high degree of adhesion, which will save on the purchase of expensive brands of glue.
Before laying the first two rows, wedges should be inserted along the wall. They are designed to create a gap between the wall and the parquet board. Since the glue dries very quickly, it should be prepared in a small amount and used immediately. Apply the composition with a notched trowel. After this, the first board is laid with a spike directed towards the wall. Not only glue should be applied to the supporting surface, but the glue itself must also be glued. This is necessary for bonding at the joints.
Subsequent rows should be trimmed. The layout should be done with an offset of one third of the length in relation to the row in front.

The disadvantages of this technology

A significant drawback of such a laying technology should be considered just durability. The fact is that dignity is also a disadvantage. If the surface of the floor covering is damaged, then it will be impossible to replace or repair any area. All floor coverings will have to be replaced immediately. Therefore, this technology is recommended for use in small areas.
