Homogeneous linoleum - what is it?

One of the most popular types of flooring is linoleum. His development story began a long time ago, and every year he acquires all the best characteristics. It is worth noting that this material has passed a rather impressive path of development from ordinary tarred fabric to coating, which is characterized by high rates of stability. The average period of operation is in the range of 10-15 years. Separately, it is worth highlighting a homogeneous linoleum, which has excellent characteristics when used in rooms with high traffic, for example, it can be commercial facilities or educational institutions.

We will understand the terminology

Homogeneous linoleum is a homogeneous material. The name was given due to the fact that the structure is uniform throughout the thickness. There are no layers, as, for example, in heterogeneous. The print is unified and this allows you to save the characteristics declared by the manufacturer throughout the entire period of operation.

It is thanks to its characteristics that this version of the product is very often chosen for the arrangement of floors in children's bedrooms, playrooms and other rooms with high traffic.

When viewed from the point of view of operational parameters, it can be argued that this option is eternal. The pattern over a long period of time does not lose brightness. If it happens that in some places the coating thickness is reduced, this can be corrected. For this, the building technology is used, it can be produced even at home.

IMPORTANT. A distinctive feature is the complete absence of any joints, gaps between the paintings. For bonding, the coating is welded using special welding. This eliminates the possibility of dirt and debris getting between the joints. No tubercles or folds will form.

Main advantages

This type of flooring can equally well be used both at home and in commercial. Among the advantages are the following:

  • High degree of wear resistance.
  • High degree of fire safety.
  • No unpleasant odor.
  • Long term of operation.
  • Resists chemicals.
  • It has an antistatic effect.

Such material is able to withstand very high loads. It is not able to absorb moisture and is not deformed. Caring for it is extremely simple.

Features of flooring

This type of linoleum consists of the following components:

  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
  • Plasticizers. They are necessary to give the material elasticity and springiness.
  • Dolomite. The use of this component can increase the fire resistance of the coating, it is also a fatal effect of insects that are unnecessary in the house.
  • Chalk, lime.
  • Quartz sand. The coating becomes soft shades.

Each of these components is very important and the exclusion of one of them will radically change the characteristics of the product.

In order to give the flooring increased strength indicators, the manufacturer applies the top layer of polyurethane and polyacryl. This layer is the only one not embedded in the general structure of the product, which is why it can be prone to abrasion. If during operation this layer has undergone severe wear and wear, it is quite possible to restore it. For this, specialists use special formulations. Otherwise, it is possible to further use the flooring without restoration, its characteristics will not deteriorate much.

The manufacturer produces natural linoleum of this type. In the production of which is used jute, linseed oil and resin, wood flour. As part of the natural components are in a ratio of 99 to 1 with others.

REFERENCE. A feature of this material is the possibility of recovery during active use. To do this, use a grinding machine.

Varieties of material

This type of material can be divided into certain subspecies. They are divided depending on the presence or absence of the base, these are also other parameters.

The unique composition allows you to give a really high strength, the material will be very difficult to push or tear. The presence of polyurethane allows you to give softness.

This is a reinforced material and its main difference is the price, it will be twice as high as the cost of ordinary material. Wear resistance is in the range of class 33-43. This is a commercial floor covering.

This type of flooring can be used both in commercial premises where high rates of resistance to active use are very important, as well as at home. Even choosing a homogeneous linoleum for the home, you can be sure that you get really reliable material that will serve you for many years and will not lose the characteristics declared by the manufacturer. Such a decision is rational.
