DIY electric boiler

Electric heating systems are extremely simple equipment, and allow you to create the optimum temperature in the house, even when there is a fierce and snowy winter outside the window. Such devices have an impressive efficiency and work stably for a long time. But few people know that for heating an apartment or house it is not at all necessary to purchase expensive equipment, and you can make an electric boiler yourself. It was to this issue that we decided to pay detailed attention in today's article.

Choose the type of electric boiler

At the moment, there are three types of boilers that differ in the heating method:

  • induction;
  • electrode;
  • models with TEN.

Now let's talk about each type.

A boiler with a heating element. This is a classic that will probably never go out of style. Heating in this device is the heater, which gives heat to the liquid, and that, in turn, transfers it to the radiators.

Attention! The use of water of increased hardness can lead to the formation of plaque on the heating element, as a result of which the productivity of the equipment will decrease. In order to prevent this, it is necessary to regularly treat the heating elements with the substances intended for this.

Advantages of boilers with heating elements:

  • extensive functionality;
  • maintaining a variety of damage;
  • the heater shell is not connected to voltage;
  • the system works well with insufficient contact with the coolant.

Induction models. These devices appeared on the market relatively recently, but have already become very popular among consumers. They work quite simply: the equipment creates electromagnetic waves that interact with the metal. The rest of the material is not affected, and accordingly it is unlikely to get a burn when in contact with equipment.

The boiler includes a radiator and a circulating fluid pipe. She takes on radiation. The pipeline boasts an impressive size, and even with the formation of plaque on its walls, the performance indicator will not decrease.

The advantages of the models include:

  • safety and reliable performance;
  • excellent efficiency;
  • fast achievement of optimum temperatures;
  • simple operation.

Electrode aggregates. These devices are already in contact with the heat transfer fluid. The point is that the device has a transducer that affects ions in water. And, in the end, they begin to move randomly and come into contact with other particles, generating heat.

The main advantage of such models can be called complete immunity to circuit damage. When the ion chamber is left without a coolant, it simply stops working. And this makes the operation of the boiler to the maximum safe, and helps prevent the formation of plaque.

How to make an electric boiler for DIY heating

Electrical equipment does not include a mechanical component, which is why independent manufacture can be called an extremely simple procedure. In addition, this factor eliminates the occurrence of a number of malfunctions that require expensive repairs.

The design of such models implies the presence of temperature regulation. In view of the foregoing, the system will be able to react in time to the temperature changes that have occurred, and the boiler will either add power or, conversely, lower the temperature.

The boiler is powered from a conventional outlet with a voltage indicator of 220 V, and the average weight has stopped at around 22 kg. Such a device can heat air up to 400 cubic meters.

Necessary tools

To work, you need to prepare:

  • grinder;
  • welding equipment;
  • grinding machine;
  • multimeter.

What materials will be needed

To work, you need to take:

  • sheet steel with a minimum thickness of 2 mm;
  • adapters through which the device will be connected to the heating system;
  • TENY (we buy 2 pieces in shop);
  • steel pipe (the best option would be a pipe from 50 to 60 cm long with a diameter of 15.9 cm).

We make a homemade electric boiler

To make a good boiler, follow the suggested instructions:

  1. First we prepare the pipes for connection to the heating system. We make them from pipes. In total, three pieces are needed - one with a diameter of 3 inches, and two of 1.25 each.
  2. Upon completion of the indicated step, we proceed to the manufacture of the tank from stainless steel sheets. Next, cut holes in it and weld the finished pipes. After, two circles are cut out of stainless steel, with a diameter larger than that of the pipe. So you can weld them to the maximum quality.
  3. At the top, we weld the remaining pipe, to which the heating element will be connected in the future. When the procedure is completed, we are preparing a site for attaching the first heater. For this purpose, 2 holes are made in the bottom of the tank, and then they are ground and a part is placed in them.
  4. Now you can connect the equipment to the heating system and start it.

Based on the above information, it can be concluded that the boiler circuit includes:

  • housing;
  • a heating element;
  • water inlet and outlet nozzles;
  • a casing;
  • mounting brackets.

How to connect a homemade electric boiler 220V

Before starting, you will need to inspect all connections again, as well as the wiring for damage.

Important! It will be necessary to clean the structure from contamination, if any, remained after the boiler assembly work.

In addition, it is recommended that voltage surges be prevented during the first start-up; therefore, a protective exclusion device must be installed. After that, you can fill the system with water, connect to the electrical network, and wait until it warms up to the desired temperature mode!
