Pellet boiler installation

Not every home building has the opportunity to connect to the main gas pipeline, and the cost of energy resources increases every year. Therefore, consumers are increasingly using solid fuel boilers for space heating. The most popular varieties among them are pellet.

Fuel for pellet boilers are special pressed pellets from waste wood and agriculture, which are called pellets.

Advantages of pellet boilers:

  • High efficiency from 87 to 97%;
  • A small amount of ash, so the unit can be cleaned once a week;
  • Autonomy. There is no need for a constant supply of fuel. Thanks to the placement of pellets in the fuel compartment, from which they automatically enter the furnace;
  • Long term of operation - more than 25 years;
  • Environmental friendliness.

Before installing pellet heating, you should first calculate the heat loss, select the desired performance, depending on the heated area of the room. General requirements for the installation of pellet aggregates are given below.

Pellet equipment should be installed in a separate room, such as a garage or basement, if this is not available, an extension should be made. The flooring in the boiler room, according to the requirements, should be made durable and made of non-combustible material. For example, from concrete, it is also possible to line with sheets of metal. The place where the boiler will be installed must have a concrete elevation, 10-20 centimeters high.

The boiler room should be heated, have an air temperature of at least + 10С˚, with moderate humidity, in order to extend the life of the equipment. Equipment should be freely accessible so that repairs and maintenance can be easily performed. Indoor ventilation should be designed in accordance with the capacity indicated in the equipment certificate.

Installation of equipment is based on project documentation, according to SNiP and safety requirements. Installation work has the right to carry out workers with the appropriate qualifications.

IMPORTANT: Unfair connection, strapping or adjustment of the heating device can lead to increased fuel consumption, reduced efficiency, as well as to failure of boiler parts.

Of course, you can install the unit on your own if you have special knowledge, but it is better to seek qualified help from a specialized organization that has a building license.

The main and important stage in the installation is a professionally executed design. It is followed by such stages for the installation of heating equipment:

  • Preparatory stage. Includes preparation of a boiler room, construction of a hill for a boiler, installation of a chimney, ventilation;
  • Installation of the heating unit on a hill;
  • Connection of heating system pipes and hot water supply to the boiler;
  • Connection of the chimney duct;
  • Setting up and starting the heater.

Preparatory work

A boiler room should be prepared - level and strengthen the foundation, which should withstand a weight of up to 200 kilograms. According to the requirements, the boiler is installed vertically, so there should be no bias. The base must have a fireproof surface.

The wiring is necessary for the automation of the heating device and for lighting the boiler room, which will provide convenience during operation. Construction of a chimney as a sandwich, at least 5 meters high. A chimney and ventilation are also installed.

Boiler installation and piping

Installation and binding occurs in the following sequence:

  • The brought boiler is mounted on the podium;
  • The fuel compartment and the auger feeding pellets are mounted;
  • The distribution comb is connected;
  • Installation of an expansion tank and stop valves;
  • The boiler is connected to the circuit supplying the coolant and the return circuit.

Chimney connection, start-up and commissioning

After the system has been filled with coolant (water, ethylene glycol or propylene glycol), a connection to the chimney should be made. Moreover, the diameter of the chimney should correspond to the diameter of the outlet pipe. And the height of the chimney - technical requirements.

An appropriate diameter will provide good traction regardless of wind strength and air temperature. Good traction is the key to the effective operation of pellet equipment. But this type of boiler is afraid of strong traction, but too small will not work. Therefore, to solve this problem, use a traction stabilizer or slide gate.

Most often, the chimney is made of a metal pipe, in which hatches are built for further cleaning. Also, the chimney should be equipped with a device for condensate drainage and its insulation. An important step is the crimping, if it is done poorly, there will be a leak of pyrolysis gases, which will lead to a decrease in efficiency.

After carry out test start-up and adjustment. An unresolved appliance will cause such problems: the boiler will smoke, choke, go out and the pellets will not be completely burned.

IMPORTANT: Adjustment work in pellet aggregates should be carried out at the first start-up.
