Most modern hair clippers are similar in type of work to Soviet razors. They are indispensable equipment for professional hairdressers. Many consumers buy similar devices for home use. But, like and how any machinery, cars can break, which is why their urgent repair is required. What can be the causes of a malfunction of the device and can they be eliminated independently at home?
What types of clippers are on the market?
The modern market is represented by a wide variety of models, but they are all divided into two categories:
- rotary;
- vibrating.
Rotary machines - are devices of a rather expensive segment in the modern sphere of tools for a hairdresser. These models are found in two versions:
- working from an electric network;
- functioning on the battery.
Among the main advantages of the presented units can be identified a long service life, reliability and high power.
The main driving part of such devices is an electric motor, on the rotor of which an eccentric is placed. At the moment of rotation, it acts on the movable knife, thereby moving it around. In addition, this unit also has a knife block, which consists of static and active parts.
ATTENTION! In a clipper that works offline, the battery and control board are placed in the housing.
Vibration models belong to the budget category. In the device, the motor is replaced by a coil, and in front of it is a pendulum having a magnet. At the moment the current passes through the coil, the polarity of the magnetic field with an index of 50 Hz begins to change in its core. In view of the foregoing, the magnet changes its location on an ongoing basis, and thus moves the movable knife. Also on this model there is an activation key.
Why the clipper doesn’t cut
Depending on the hair clipper used, the nature of the malfunctions will differ. So, in rotary models powered by an electric network, the following breakdowns may occur:
- problems with the network cable (burned out, frayed, etc.);
- the activation key has broken;
- the eccentric worked;
- problems associated with the head of the block of knives for cutting;
- the electric motor broke.
Stand-alone models of rotary devices can upset consumers with problems such as:
- battery breakdown or charge output;
- the charging station has broken;
- frayed the cord of the charging station;
- control board burned out.
Vibration models are also not the most reliable equipment and often upset consumers with a variety of malfunctions. The main failures include:
- problems with the power cord;
- activation key breakdown;
- the coil of the coil broke;
- extraneous noise appeared during operation.
ATTENTION! To extend the life of the machine and prevent the occurrence of some breakdowns, you must regularly lubricate the device with special oil.
In addition to the indicated breakdowns, a number of common breakdowns for each type of machine can be distinguished. These include: the device has stopped cutting or is missing pieces of hair, pulling or “chewing” them.
Malfunctioning clipper malfunctions that you can fix yourself
The consumer can easily repair some breakdowns with his own hands, without experience or special knowledge:
- In the rotary typewriter, the indicators go out and the start is not carried out. This reason is due to clogging of the rotor or cam. To eliminate it, disassemble the housing, remove dirt, and then again check the device for operability. Also, the reason may be due to the fall of the device. In such cases, there is a high probability of disconnecting the internal power wires. To eliminate it, open the case, and if the wires are disconnected, solder them back.
- The rotary autonomous machine does not start. Most likely, the reason lies in the faulty power supply, which simply does not charge the battery. To eliminate the breakdown, it is necessary to disassemble it and inspect the coil for a break. If this is the case, you will need to replace the coil or simply purchase a new power station.
- Extraneous noise during the operation of the vibrating machine. In this situation, open the housing and check the position of the coil. Sometimes the screws holding this element can spontaneously unscrew and eventually working, the machine is very noisy. In this case, simply screw these bolts back in and enjoy the hairdresser's equipment again.
