Vesa size: what is it on TV

Televisions in apartments have long been a common occurrence. If earlier they were bulky, now thin and multifunctional models are produced. Modern TVs not only stand on the stands, but also are mounted on the wall. To make installation take less time, manufacturers have created standards for holes and fasteners on the back of the screen. Established by VESA.

What is the vesa mount size on TV

What is VESA on TV? At the moment, almost all TV models support standardized holes and mounts. If the screen is not designed for standardized values, then you can buy a special adapter. The differences between the values depend on the diagonal of the screen and the distance between the fasteners.

There are several types of fasteners for fixing on the wall:

  • Fixed brackets - they are designed for those models that will not rotate and tilt;
  • Inclined brackets - unlike fixed ones, they allow you to change the angle of the screen;
  • Tilt-swivel brackets - this type allows you to both change the angle of inclination, and rotate the screen to the sides.

Today, more than 150 manufacturers of equipment use these standards for manufacturing. To choose the mount for your TV, you need to find out its size. There are several ways to do this.

How to determine it using tape measure

What is the VESA size on a TV? Using a tape measure, you need to find out the distance between the fastener points on the back of the screen. The default value in millimeters is expressed. To find it, you need to turn the TV screen down (it is best to put it on the bed) and, using a tape measure, measure the distance between two points both vertically and horizontally. The result will be one of the VESA standards.

IMPORTANT: as an example: if you get 300 mm vertically and 200 horizontally, then the standard will be VESA 300 x 200.

How to find out the dimensions by referring to the TV instruction

If there is no roulette at hand or there is no way to see the holes on the back of the screen, you can use the instructions for the TV. If the print version is not preserved, you can download the electronic version, you just enter the exact model of your TV in the search.

IMPORTANT: information on VESA dimensions can be found in the technical specifications or on the description page for mounting the TV to the wall.

Sizing on the manufacturer's website

Another option is to search for distances on the manufacturer's website. They resort to it if it is not possible to measure the dimensions on the back of the TV, but the instructions cannot be found.

IMPORTANT: on the site in the tech support section you can either download the instructions for your model, or select your TV from the list.

If the device is selected from the menu, then after entering the page with the characteristics of the TV, you need to scroll down and find the values of the VESA standard. But this is not the best option, because such sites are most often filled with people who do not take any part in the manufacture of televisions. That is, there is a high risk that the data will be incorrect.

For safety, you can use several methods at the same time.

How to choose the "vesa" mounts

After the sizes for fastening steel are known, you can proceed to the choice of fasteners. At the moment there are only seven of their types, depending on the characteristics for the installation, different bolts are used.

  • Type MIS-B - for screens with a diagonal of 100 by 200 mm, weighing up to 2 kg; mounting dimensions 50 to 20 mm, bolts type M4;
  • Type MIS-C - typical for models with a diagonal of 200 by 300 mm, weighing up to 4.5 kg; fastening parameters 75 by 35 mm, M4 bolts;
  • Type MIS-D 75 - used for televisions with a diagonal of 300 by 580 mm and weighing up to 8 kg; mounting dimensions 75 by 50 mm and 75 by 75 mm, M4 bolts;
  • Type MIS-D 100 - found for screens with a diagonal of 300 by 580 mm and weighing up to 14 kg; the size of the fasteners 100 to 100 mm and 100 to 50 mm; bolts type M4;
  • Type MIS-E - typical for models whose diagonal is 580 by 780 mm, weight up to 23 kg; fastenings of 200 by 100 mm and 200 by 50 mm, type of M4 bolts;
  • Type MIS-F M6 - for televisions with a diagonal equal to 780 by 2300 mm and weighing up to 50 kg; fastenings of 200 to 200 mm in size and more, type of M6 bolts;
  • Type MIS-F M8 - found in screens whose diagonal is 780 by 2300 mm, but with a weight of 114 kg, they use the largest mounts of the M8 type with a size of 200 by 200 mm and more.

IMPORTANT: for mounting the TV on the wall, you can use larger sizes of brackets than indicated for the model, but not smaller. It is allowed to use fasteners designed for televisions with a larger diagonal, but not with a smaller one. Also, be sure to pay attention to the weight of the TV. If it is larger than the one that can withstand the bracket, then the mount will break.

In addition to the above parameters, the manufacturer may also indicate the letters for the correct location of the mounts. For example, for categories B-E, when looking at the back, you can find the following notation:

  • C - for installation in the center;
  • T - for mounting from above;
  • B - for installation from below;
  • L - installation is carried out on the left;
  • R - the TV is mounted on the right;
  • T / B - for installation above and below (usually for heavy models);
  • L / R - for mounting on the left and right.

You can summarize and say that VESA standards are supported by most modern TVs. Size is easy to find at home using a variety of methods. According to the size, bolts and an arm are selected to mount the TV on the wall and enjoy watching your favorite TV shows and movies.
