Each family member in the house has his own bed, and a cat should have it. Own sleeping place for a pet is as necessary as a complete diet, toys and the owner’s love. Take a closer look at the animal that lives near you - the cat sleeps most of its life, so its bed should be as comfortable as possible. However, a soft couch is not only comfort for the animal, but also an integral part of the interior.
Taking into account the above factors, a cat's bed should be comfortable and attractive from an aesthetic point of view. A lounger for a cat can be bought at a pet store, but making a soft bed or sofa with your own hands is much cheaper, and the animal will definitely appreciate the care of a big friend.
What should be a bed for cats
A proper cat bed must meet several criteria:
- pet comfort - soft filler, a cover made of natural fabric without an unpleasant odor;
- compactness;
- aesthetic appeal;
- protection against drafts - sides or high walls;
- the ability to remove the cover for washing or cleaning.
In shape, color of fabric and design, the bed for a cat can be anything. Ideally, it should be done in accordance with the interior of the room where the animal usually sleeps.
How to make a bed for a cat with your own hands
To make a do-it-yourself bed for a cat, you do not need to buy expensive blanks. As a rule, in every house there are remnants of fabric, small balls of thread, polystyrene and other improvised materials that can be used to create a warm and cozy house, sofa, and stove bench. Having laid out the available objects in front of you, you need to come up with the shape of the future product, preferably even draw a sketch on paper.
Cat bench with sides
For the manufacture of stove benches with sides fit an old, flat pad of padding polyester. We remove the pillowcase, and cut the filler so that we get a long roller (two or even three parts can be used), which will serve as sides and a large part that performs the function of the bottom. We sew every detail around the perimeter. It is advisable to flash the side in the middle.
We have not sewn parts yet with a fabric. We connect the edges of the sides so that the space formed inside corresponds to the size of the bottom. A pillowcase should be sewn onto the inner pillow. Now just put the sides in the space provided for the bed, and inside, insert the pillow with the pillowcase.
Sofa for cat
To make a comfortable sofa for a cat, we need a simple set of materials:
- thick polystyrene foam - you can buy at a hardware store or use packing lists, for example, from the refrigerator;
- soft foam rubber of small thickness;
- upholstery fabric;
- PVA glue.
The sofa consists of 4 parts - a couch, a back and two sidewalls. Assembly is carried out in two options:
- The foam frame is glued, foam is glued to it. Next, the structure is covered with fabric.
- Each part is individually sheathed and only after that is the assembly.
The second option is easier to execute, and the product looks neater. For the first method of assembly, a removable cover is possible, which can be zipped below or behind the back.
IMPORTANT! When choosing a fabric for a cover, make sure that it does not sit down after washing. If the material is subject to shrinkage, sew a large allowance cover.
Cat sweater bed
Having fished a forgotten knitted sweater from the bowels of the chiffonier, you can not only build a comfortable couch for a fluffy pet, but also give a new life to the old thing. Only the households will know that a soft bed was previously worn.
Step-by-step progress:
- we lay out the sweater on a flat surface, sew up the neck and sew the seam from the armpit to the armpit;
- we attach the sleeves at the seams to the sides of the sweater (also at the seams);
- we fill the pipe formed by the sleeves with sintepon;
- from a synthetic winterizer we cut out an insert of a rectangular shape across the width of the jacket, we fold the thin material into several layers;
- we stack the filler so that it occupies the entire upper part and ends on the middle transverse line of the sweater;
- bend the free end down, hem or fix using buttons;
- we sew the edges of the cuffs.
The sofa is ready. The joints of the cuffs can be decorated with a suitable fabric or crocheted.
King bed for cat

In addition to the table, the following materials will be required for work:
- mattress or pillow;
- the cloth;
- wood varnish;
- decor;
- glue.
Old wood paint or varnish must be removed from the wood with a grinder or manually. Then apply a new decorative coating. Instead of varnish, you can use paint without a pungent odor (water-based). When the table is completely dry, it is turned upside down and a mattress is inserted between the sides. From the fabric you need to sew a canopy, for which legs will serve as a support. A hole is left in the canopy through which the cat will enter its royal apartment.
